“Caravanners” beware of the total weight of your vehicles!

When packing for a holiday, we often forget to keep track of the weight of our luggage and end up exceeding the total weight of the combination of vehicles without realizing it.

For example, in Germany the tolerance for overloading is only 5% (i.e. 3,675 kg) and the overloading is fined as follows:

Exceeding by:

5.1 – 10% (3,675 – 3,850 kg) = 10 EUR

10.1 – 15% = EUR 30

15.1 – 20% = EUR 35

20.1 – 25% = EUR 95 + 1 point

25.1 – 30% = 140 UR + 1 point

more than 30% = EUR 235 + 1 point

In Switzerland, the overweight is penalized as follows:

Up to 100 kg = 100 francs (approx. 2,360 CZK)

Up to 5% = 200 francs (approx. CZK 4,720)
